Earthquake kills six, injures five others in Doti

KAILALI, Nov 9: At least six person were killed and five others injured in Doti as a result of earthquake that took place on Tuesday night.

KAILALI, Nov 9: At least six person were killed and five others injured in Doti as a result of earthquake that took place on Tuesday night.


According to police, six persons were killed and five others were injured after a house in Purbichauki Rural Municipality-3 in Doti collapsed as a result of earthquake measuring 6.6 Richter scale at 2:12 AM on Wednesday. The earthquake had it epicentre around Khaptada National Park area.

According to Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Nayan Singh Bhat at Area Police Office in Sanagaun, the deceased have been identified as Prem Bahadur Bohora, 50, Sita Bohara,13, Bhagawati Bohora,40, Harak Bohara,8, Dhansari Bohara,14, and Tulasi Bohora, 14 of Purbichauki Rural Municipality-3 in the district. Similarly, Innahari Devi Bohra, Dhauli Bohara, Kisna Bohara, Sana Bohara, Sana Bohara and Mahabir Bohara were also injured in the incident. 


According to police, at least eight houses were completely destroyed as a result of the earthquake. The injured are taken to hospital after the rescue effort. 


A team of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army personnel have reached the incident site for rescue efforts. Officials said scores of houses are demolished across rural areas in the district as a result of the earthquake. 


An earthquake measuring 5.7 Magnitude also had hit the district earlier at 9:57 AM.
