BAJURA, Oct 5: At least two children were injured and nine houses completely damaged due to a 6.3 magnitude earthquake in Bajhang on Tuesday. The epicenter of the quake was Chainpur, according to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre (NEMRC), Lainchaur, Kathmandu.
The injured have been identified as Pralop DG of Badimalika Municipality-9 and Sundar Sarki, 13, of Khaptad Rural Municipality-4, currently living in Badimalika Municipality-8, said the district police office, Bajura.

DG has sustained head injuries by a falling rock while playing in the courtyard of his house, and Sarki has got his left hand bone cracked when he fell off his school steps in his attempt to run to safety when the quake occurred, said Inspector Dansingh Bhandari of the district police office. Both children were discharged from the district hospital.
Nine houses have been completely damaged in the quake, said Inspector Bhandari. According to a team deployed to collect details of the loss from the police post under the district police office, six houses in Khaptad Chhededaha Rural Municipality and three in Budhiganga Municipality have been completely destroyed due to the quake. According to Bhandari, 13 other private houses and five government buildings have been partially damaged.
Chief District Officer Bhimkanta Paudel, also coordinator of the district disaster management committee, is headed to the incident site for an inspection and helping collect additional details of the loss, said the district administration office.
The quake has affected Budhiganga Municipality, Khaptad Chhededaha Rural Municipality, Tribeni Municipality and Badimalika Municipality the most. Dozens of private houses and government office buildings in Khaptad Chhededaha Rural Municipality and Budhiganga Municipality have been cracked due to the quake while the locals are spending sleepless nights in fear.
