EC informs diplomatic missions about preparations for polls

KATHMANDU, Nov 14: The Election Commission (EC) has informed the diplomatic missions in Nepal about the upcoming House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly member elections.

KATHMANDU, Nov 14: The Election Commission (EC) has informed the diplomatic missions in Nepal about the upcoming House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly member elections.


The EC informed the heads and representatives of the diplomatic missions in Nepal about the election on Monday. Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya said that the Commission is committed to conducting the House of Representatives and provincial assembly elections in a clean, free and transparent manner and that the necessary preparations have been completed. He said that he expects support and cooperation from the international community in successfully holding the elections.

Kamal Bhattarai, deputy secretary of the Commission, gave detailed information about the security arrangements made for the elections, arrangements made for the implementation of the code of conduct, election monitoring organizations and supervisors. He said that after voting in the election takes place, arrangements have been made for the security of the ballot boxes.


Bhattarai said that three international organizations, 44 national organizations have been permitted to monitor the elections and 8,000 observers have been mobilized for the elections.
