KATHMANDU, September 9: The Election Commission (EC) has sought clarification from Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchadar for violating election code in course of poll campaign in Parsa.
The election body sought the clarification from DPM Gachchadar following the complaints that the Minister was found using around 25 four wheelers and more than 100 motorcycles for poll rallies.

The election code allows using maximum two four wheeler light vehicles and two motorcycles for any mayoral candidate.
DPM Gachchhadar, who is also, Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development, had reached Birgunj as part of his campaign to promote the candidacy of Bimal Shrivastav. Gachchhadhar Nepal Democratic Forum has fielded as the mayoral candidate of Birgunj Metropolitan City.
The election body has also asked Shrivastav to furnish the clarification within 24 hours of issuing the public notice. “Why not to scrap your candidacy as per the election commission act 2017? Furnish the clarification within 24 hours”, states the EC’s decision.
Similarly, a board meeting of the EC headed by Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav, has decided to seek the clarification from State Minister for Water Resource Amar Singh Pun. State Minister Pun was found participating in the poll campaign in Jitpur of Bara district on Friday.
The election code bars the ministers to use government vehicles for the poll campaign. Concerned with the State Minister Pun’s involvement in breaching the election code f conduct, the EC’s board has demanded the clarification from the State Minister Pun within 24 hours.
