EC sets up election security management monitoring mechanism

KATHMANDU, April 21: The Election Commission has set up a by-election security management monitoring mechanism in a bid to make effective the efforts to organize the April 23 by-election in a free, fair and fearless manner, said the commission.

KATHMANDU, April 21: The Election Commission has set up a by-election security management monitoring mechanism in a bid to make effective the efforts to organize the April 23 by-election in a free, fair and fearless manner, said the commission.

Led by Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Jitendra Basnet, other members of the mechanism are Colonel of the Nepalese Army Bhesh Bahadur KC, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Surendra Bahadur Gurung, SSP of Armed Police Force Digbijaya Subedi and deputy investigation director of the National Investigation Department, Bhumi Prasad Pathak.  The tenure of the mechanism will end on April 24. 


Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya directed all stakeholders to organize the by-election in a fair, free, impartial, credible, transparent and fearless manner. The by-election is taking place in Bara constituency-2, Tanahun-1 and Chitwan-2 on April 23.
