KATHMANDU, Sept 2: Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Ashok Kumar Rai, has vowed to construct a building for the central library in Jamal, Kathmandu.
Addressing a program organized on the occasion of the 16th National Library Day in the capital on Friday, Minister Rai, however, at the last hour stalled the process to begin construction of the central library building. Detailed project report was prepared and even the budget allocated to construct the building, he added.

Minister Rai further shared he was informed that the budget allocated for the undertaking could not be spent. Necessary works were continued to meet the criteria set by the Supreme Court order in this regard.
Minister Rai also vowed to construct the building for the central library at any cost. Currently, the Nepal National Library is run in a provisional manner in Bhaktapur.
Various organizations and persons who contributed to library development were awarded and honored at the program.
