Eight metric tonnes garbage collected from Hanumante river

BHAKTAPUR, Nov 3: As much as eight metric tonnes of garbage was collected from Hanumante river, Bhaktapur today under the Hanumante river clean-up campaign. In the 36th week of the Hanumante river clean-up campaign, a notable participation of locals, politicians, students, representatives from community-based organizations and others was observed with a great zeal aiming to inspire others in the cleanup campaign. 


The clean-up campaign was held with the lead role of Surya Binayak Municipality where Chairman of High-Powered Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee Narendra Raj Basnet and others also attended by concentrating the clean-up in the river near Balkot this morning.

Member of House of Representative Mahesh Basnet, Province Assembly Member Shashijung Thapa, Chief of District Coordination Committee Nabraj Gelal, Deputy Chief Sarita Kunwar, Mayor of Surya Binayak Municipality Basudev Thapa, Deputy Mayor Juna Basnet, Deputy Mayor of Madhyapur Municipality Anjana Devi Madhikarki and others were present at the event. 


Around 375 people were present in the clean-up campaign today. Hanumante clean-up campaigner Pushker Gajurel said that so far 310 metric tonnes of garbage has been collected since the announcement of Hanumante river clean up. 


On the occasion, lawmaker Basnet and others called one and all to make the river pollution-free and praised the ongoing clean-up campaign. RSS
