Electoral system should be reviewed: Chief Commissioner Ghimire

KATHMANDU, May 21: Chief Commissioner of Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Nabin Kumar Ghimire has underscored the need to review the electoral system in the country.


He argued that there were tendencies among the candidates to buy vote banks during the election and later working to make up for the money spent in the election after being elected. At an interaction program organized by CIAA, Hetauda office here today, Chief Commissioner Ghimire said the anti-graft organization was ready to move ahead with the integrity of the people’s representatives.

Ghimire underscored the need for the people’s representatives to look after the people’s works within the parameters of law rather than exerting influences on the government employees. Stating that CIAA was serious about irregular running of schools, he shared that cases of irregularities were reported the most in the education sector. Ghimire warned action against those lodging a false case against the innocent.


CIAA sectary Kali Prasad Parajuli and CIAA’s Hetauda Office’s Humkala Pandey had presented a working paper depicting the status of the figh against corruption and penalties. Present in the event were chiefs of 14 local units of Parsa and people’s representatives.
