Just a few weeks ago, the Reserve Office had stated that preparations for relocating Makuna were underway. The Koshi Tappu Conservation Center under the Nature Conservation Fund was given the responsibility of the study for relocating Makuna.
Although Makuna was a wild elephant, he had been living in the reserve for a long time and was the guardian of the other elephants in the stable. However, Makuna had claimed more than a dozen lives in Sunsari and Saptari districts.
