KATHMANDU, Jan 28: The staff organizations of the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Immigration Office have demanded that security be arranged at the international airport through the Armed Police Force.
Objecting to the ill-treatment to the immigration staff by the staff of the Nepal Police on Friday, various unions of the immigration staff demanded that the international airport falls under the international border area and that the security arrangements should be made through the border security monitoring agency.

"As Nepal Police is responsible for overseeing the main entry points, passenger check-in areas, and exit points of Tribhuvan International Airport within the international border area, it is imperative that airport security be enforced promptly through the border security monitoring body," stated a joint release from the three employee organizations.
Border security in Nepal is being looked after by the Armed Police Force.
TIA Immigration Office's National Employee’s Organization of Nepal (Civil Service), Nepal Government Employees Organization and Nepal Civil Service Employees Union issued a statement on Friday and demanded that the Home Minister and the Secretary also conduct an on-site inspection of the incident and overall immigration.
They have also demanded that the Armed Police Force be stationed where necessary or withdrawn and make arrangements for its implementation within 24 hours.
