The theme for Women's Day this year (March 8) is "Invest in women: Accelerate progress," complemented by the campaign theme, "Inspire Inclusion”. In celebration of the 34th International Women’s Day in Nepal, Republica has curated a collection of 34 inspiring stories showcasing unwavering courage, resilience, and empowerment of women below the age of 34. These stories are not merely personal; they wield a profound impact, shaping the lives of those who share them. They unfold as tales of courage, resilience, and empowerment.
Sagarika Bhatta started her journey as a climate activist 11 years ago. During this period, she has been actively involved in the youth campaign to address the effects of climate change in Nepal and on a global scale.

In her pursuit of her goals of climate justice and gender equality, Bhatta established organizations named 'Power Shift Nepal' and the 'Environmental and Research Center'. Over the past decade, she has spearheaded local campaigns for climate justice within Nepal, while also collaborating with regional partners on a global scale.
Her organizations have been instrumental in providing practical education, including training and research, to foster a sustainable environment. These initiatives include offering hydroponic farming services, which allow for soilless agriculture, alongside relevant training, assistance, and waste management training.
Bhatta's contributions to local and national climate action have been duly recognized and earned her awards such as the 'South Asian Climate Action' and 'Climate Action Race to Zero'. She was also selected as one of the top 20 young women globally making significant contributions to sustainable development by the organization 'Young Women in Development'.
