Entrepreneurs promote Nepali tourist destinations in Kolkata

KOLKATA, Dec 10: Entrepreneurs from eastern Nepal who are in Kolkata of India to participate in the ongoing Himalayan Orange Tourism Fair 2018 are promoting tourist destinations of Province 1, besides promoting and selling Nepali oranges.

KOLKATA, Dec 10: Entrepreneurs from eastern Nepal who are in Kolkata of India to participate in the ongoing Himalayan Orange Tourism Fair 2018 are promoting tourist destinations of Province 1, besides promoting and selling Nepali oranges. 


They are utilizing the West Bengal platform to promote the upcoming Mechi Area Tourism Festival 2018, slated to begin on December 20, among prospective Indian tourists. 


Bijaya Sekhar Bhattarai, a participating entrepreneur from Ilam district, has been busy giving information about the festival and Nepal's eastern hills to Indian visitors.

Targeting tourists from the West Bengal state of India, tourism entrepreneurs and hoteliers from Nepal have decorated their stalls with banners, brochures and photos of the upcoming event and Nepal's tourist destinations. 


A team lead by Taramani Ghimire, president of Pathibhara Development Committee, is in Kolkata participating in the orange festival. The team is also promoting Pathibhara Temple of Taplejung district, a famous Hindu shrine. 


Likewise, Basudev Baraj, a tourism entrepreneur from Dharan, is promoting Nepal's mountain flight and various tourist destinations. 


Almost seven dozen entrepreneurs from Nepal are participating in the event. In collaboration with Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), they are also promoting the Visit Nepal Year 2020 among prospective Indian tourists. 


"Nepal has a large market in Kolkata. This kind of promotional activity will help increase the number of tourists from West Bengal," said Raj Basu, a campaigner of rural tourism and homestay, from Kolkata. 


He further said that several tourist destinations of eastern Nepal were yet to be explored and visited. By increasing the quality of services, Nepali entrepreneurs would be able to welcome more and more tourists, he added. 


According to the participating Nepali entrepreneurs, visitors seemed excited to learn more about travelling to Nepal. "Some of them have already committed to visit our place. So we consider this promotional campaign to be successful," Ghimire said.
