Environment Minister Dr Mahato calls for nature-based solutions to tackle climate challenges

Dubai (UAE), Dec 7: Minister for Forests and Environment Dr Birendra Prasad Mahato has stressed the need for adopting measures of solutions based on nature to address climate change challenges. He made this statement at the Nepal pavilion on the sidelines of the ongoing UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) in UAE.

Dubai (UAE), Dec 7: Minister for Forests and Environment Dr Birendra Prasad Mahato has stressed the need for adopting measures of solutions based on nature to address climate change challenges. He made this statement at the Nepal pavilion on the sidelines of the ongoing UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) in UAE. 


Speaking at an interaction with the theme of 'Building Blocks of Climate Ambition: People, Nature and Action' organized by the National Trust for Nature Conservation in coordination with the Ministry of Forests and Environment of Nepal, Minister Dr Mahato said that it is necessary to protect nature with active participation of the local community through the community-based approach to tackle climate change challenges. “It was a moment of happiness that the local level was always effortful in this regard while strengthening the equal approach. Additional financial resources need to be brought to increase efficiency of all stakeholders and strengthen climate works," he said.

Similarly, Dr Popular Gentle, development management expert and climate advisor to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, called for making the local level efficient and the effective implementation of the related policies and programs for solutions based on nature. 


Secretary at the Ministry of Forest and Environment Dr Deepak Kumar Kharal informed about efforts of the government in seeking solutions based on climate. Similarly, Secretary at the Federal Parliament Secretariat Dr Rojnath Pandey stressed on the need for the country to focus on the resolution measures based on nature in the course of making laws. 


Member-Secretary at National Trust for Nature Conservation Sharadchandra Adhikari said the Trust is working to encourage and make the local level and communities efficient for solutions based on nature.
