Expenditure on Budhi Gandaki hydropower project reaches Rs 43 billion

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: A total of Rs 43 billion has been spent so far on Budhi Gandaki hydropower project, a project of national pride. As much as Rs 43 billion has already been spent on the 1200 MW project located at the border of Gorkha and Dhading districts.

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: A total of Rs 43 billion has been spent so far on Budhi Gandaki hydropower project, a project of national pride. As much as Rs 43 billion has already been spent on the 1200 MW project located at the border of Gorkha and Dhading districts.


During a meeting of the National Concern and Coordination Committee of the National Assembly on Friday, Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Shakti Bahadur Basnet shared that the government is actively engaged in advancing the project. He further explained that the allocated funds, totaling Rs 43 billion by the end of the fiscal year 2022/23, have been utilized for compensation distribution, studies, and various other expenditures.

He said that in the first phase, preparatory works for construction works such as roads, bridges, camps, construction works are initiated. In the second phase, works related to dam construction will be done, and in the third phase, works related to intake, power house, electric mechanical, transmission line will be carried out.
