Gallery LA is hosting a group painting exhibition on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2019 at Boudha. The all women’s exhibition began on March 8. The exhibition includes seven women artists—Anamika Gautam, Anisha Maharjan, Deepmala Maharjan, Kunti Shree Thapa, Muna Bhadel, Namrata Singh and Sabita Dangol.

The exhibition features variation in paintings in the context of composition, theme, and motifs. As you enter the gallery, the soft music in the background helps you to concentrate on the paintings even more. And you can feel the depth in the paintings in the exhibition. The majority of the artists have used male and female as their major motif where the sentiments they express differs from each other.
In the exhibition, Sabita has showcased the beauty of love between a man and a woman in her paintings, and have intricate detailing. For the detailing, she has used traditional symbols of Mithila art like peacock, flower, etc. Then, Namrata too has portrayed the beauty of females who are engaging in acts like playing flute and comforting each other. Her paintings are also influenced by Mithila art.
Likewise, capturing the expression of love in a nostalgic tone, Muna painted hands. The hands on the canvas are wrinkled and old. Deepamala's paintings showcase the want of a woman's freedom. And Anamika depicts womanhood and the pain of a woman when she aborts, in her painting.
Anisha showcases the discrimination that still continues till today between a girl and a boy child in our society. However, Kunti Shree has captured still life in her paintings such as flowers and a room.
The exhibition continues till Thursday.
