DSP Awa mentioned that enraged locals set fire to two motorcycles — one belonging to the police and the other to the opposing group. In the course of pelting stones at the police, one person sustained injuries during the retaliatory action, he said. Awa added that when the police fired aerial shots to control the situation, another person was shot in the hand and is presently receiving treatment at Janakpur Provincial Hospital.

Accusing the police of causing the death of Suganikas Kharayani Tol's Mandal in Hanspur Municipality-5 through physical assault, residents surrounded the Suganikas police office and set it ablaze.

On Thursday night, Mandal, who had arrived in the neighborhood to intervene in a dispute, was accused of theft by local Shankar Thakur. Thakur reportedly assaulted Mandal, who was then turned over to the police. Locals claim that the police subsequently transported him to the Area police office Suganikas, where he was subjected to further beatings, resulting in his death.
