ILAM, Feb 28: Since the last seven years, fifty-four-year-old Toran Kumari Chapagain of Deumai Municipality has been constantly searching for her missing husband and son.

From the time she wakes up till the time she gets into her bed, she cannot stop looking around with hope of seeing her loved ones. She hopes that one day she will be able to see them again. The memories of her loving husband and son keep haunting her at night.

On August 1, 2010, Toran Kumari's husband Padam had gone to India for the treatment of their mentally-ill son Pramod. But they never returned back. Even after so many years of their disappearance, Toran Kumari keeps worrying and wondering about their condition.

"My eyes are tired of looking for them," she says. She cannot stop her tears from rolling down her cheeks every time she talks about them. "It's hard for me to control my emotions especially when I cook delicacies at home during festivals," said Toran Kumari.

Not just the family members but the whole village was grief-stricken when Padam, who was fifty-three years then, went missing along with his twenty-four-year-old son. Padam was a primary level school teacher.

"His absence affected the classes for a long time but now we have managed it," said Netra Dhungel, a former teacher of the same school where Padam used to teach. According to him, the mysterious disappearance of both the father and the son had shocked the whole village.

Four days after leaving the village, Padam had called home and said, 'I am in a trouble but don't worry about me'.

"I have no idea from where he had called us and what was the problem," said Toran Kumari. She presumes that someone snatched the phone from her husband while he was still speaking.

Family members have informed police about the incident but nothing has been found yet. Among her three sons, Pramod was her second child. Currently, Toran Kumari has been living with her other two sons.
