KATHMANDU, Feb 16: The software used by the Foreign Employment Board (FEB) has been non-operational for several days.
Issues have arisen within the software responsible for distributing financial assistance from the board's secretariat to workers and their families affected by death or disability while employed abroad. The difficulties began following a malfunction within the software system, according to Tikaram Dhakal, spokesperson and information officer for the FEB.

Dhakal said, "The software encountered problems due to the storage of a vast amount of data and documents, leading to memory capacity being exceeded. Our technicians are working to resolve the issue, which has arisen from the accumulation of 15 years' worth of data and documents."
He also mentioned that although applications for assistance from affected workers and their families were accepted offline, payments have been delayed since they are processed through the software. He assured that, despite these challenges, emergency services, including rescue operations, are being managed through offline correspondence.
The FEB has mentioned that the server hosting its software, available at fewims.feb.gov.np, has been problematic for some days. It anticipates that it will take additional time before the system is fully functional again.
