Final poll preparations in full swing in Dadeldhura

DADELDHURA, Dec 4: With just three days left for the parliamentary and provincial assembly polls scheduled for December 7, election officers and candidates in Dadeldhura are making their final efforts for the polls.

DADELDHURA, Dec 4: With just three days left for the parliamentary and provincial assembly polls scheduled for December 7, election officers and candidates in Dadeldhura are making their final efforts for the polls.


There is one constituency for parliamentary and two constituencies for provincial elections in the district. The second phase of elections will be conducted in 45 districts of various provinces. According to Chief District Election Officer Dr Ramesh Rijal, all election officers will reach their respective polling stations by December 4. He further said that the returning officers have already been deployed to the polling centers from Saturday. Altogether, 926 officials will be mobilized in the district including the chief and assistant chief election officers.

It will take time for the poll officials to reach Parshuram Municipality and Aalital Rural Municipality which are far and have topographical difficulties, according to Dilip Tamang, Information Officer of District Election Office (DEO). "Officers have already left for the polling centers along with the ballot boxes and other election materials," he said.


Polls will be held at 117 polling centers of the 77 polling stations in the district. Similarly, 530 personnel of Nepal Police, 660 temporary police, more than 290 Armed Police Force (APF) personnel and more than 600 Nepal Army personnel have been mobilized in the district to ensure the security of voters and ballot boxes, according to Chief District Officer, Janak Raj Bhatta. He further said that officials of Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) will also coordinate with the security personnel during the elections. With the objective to avoid any kind of untoward incidents in the elections, the sale of liquor has been banned in the district from November 28.


There are altogether 81,732 eligible voters in the district. Most of the candidates have already completed their election campaigns. They are now making their final attempts to woo the voters. After hearing the agendas and plans of the candidates, voters now are contemplating on picking the 'right' candidate.
