KATHMANDU, July 29: Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has requested to amend the COVID-19 vaccination schedule and move ahead with the process so that the vaccine against COVID-19 can be administered to people by mid-October.
During a discussion with the State Minister for Health Umesh Shrestha on Wednesday, Minister Sherma requested to purchase vaccines immediately by amending the current schedule of supplying vaccines by mid-March. Stating that there will be no shortage of money for the purchase of vaccines, Minister Sharma said that the vaccines can be imported from any country through talks.

Minister Sharma mentioned that the country's economy could be trapped if vaccination is not provided within mid-October. As the country's economy is linked to the lives of the people, he expressed commitment to purchase vaccines even if the budget allocated for development has to be chunked out for the purpose. Minister Sharma expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in providing the vaccines to the target community.
During the discussion, State Minister for Health Shrestha said that arrangements have been made for the purchase of vaccines and, if necessary, the supply schedule will be amended. He said there would be no delay in purchasing the vaccine as soon as possible. Minister Shrestha assured that an action plan has been prepared for the vaccines received until now and the vaccination program will be expedited in a planned manner.
