Finance Minister urges ministries to come up with programs that can be implemented in upcoming fiscal year

KATHMANDU, April 2: Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has urged all government ministries to propose programs that can be implemented through the next fiscal year’s budget.


In a discussion with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Minister Poudel requested the ministries to come up with programs with an estimated budget for them that can be implemented.

Urging the ministry officials to propose programs on the basis of priority, Finance Minister Poudel pointed out the need for inter-ministerial coordination. In response, Minister for Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal requested the ministry to pay extra attention to the tourism sector as it is one of the hardest-hit sectors by the pandemic.


Poudel mentioned that the impact of COVID-19 on the tourism sector would be addressed through the upcoming budget and policy. 


Economic Advisor Dr Prakash Kumar Shrestha said that emphasis should be put on introducing big and special programs for economic revitalization. The Ministry of Finance has discussed with the ministries and stakeholders about the programs and projects to be included in the budget of the fiscal year 2021/22 and has also collected suggestions.
