KATHMANDU, Aug 1: Minister for Finance, Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat viewed that it was necessary to expand the network of women entrepreneurs' special industrial park.

At a program organized by the South Asian Forum for Women Development here today, Minister Mahat shared that the construction work of the park had already made headway and works relating to it would be taken forward with high priority.

It may be noted that a Cabinet meeting on June 7 this year had decided to convert the industrial village in Panchkhal Municipality into a special industrial park for women entrepreneurs with an objective to institutionally develop entrepreneurship in them.

Minister Mahat said, "The construction works related to Women's Industrial Park have moved forward. Now nobody can prevent it from happening. In a mere glance, it may look like a simple project but it’s a project with a far-reaching concept. The network of such parks should be expanded throughout the country."

The Finance Minister expressed his confidence that this park would contribute to job creation and increase domestic production. Stating that the role of women in building rural and modern economy was growing, the Minister asserted the State had adopted the policy accordingly to promote it.

According to him, women had a notable participation in small-scale industries all over the country. "Domestically produced goods are being exported. Women's participation in the information technology sector is also increasing. Women should optimize the use of information technology to market their products," he opined.

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies and Panchkhal Municipality in collaboration with the South Asian Forum for Women Development are going to establish the park.

Initially, a total of 50 small-scale industries related to agricultural production and tourism-centric services will be established in the industrial village to be set up in a public-private partnership model.
