FinMin Dr Mahat off to India for G-20 Finance Minister level meeting

KATHMANDU, July 16: Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has left for India today to participate in the third meeting of G-20 countries' finance ministers and central bank governors. He has gone to Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India to attend the meeting that will begin on Monday.

KATHMANDU, July 16: Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has left for India today to participate in the third meeting of G-20 countries' finance ministers and central bank governors. He has gone to Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India to attend the meeting that will begin on Monday.


Shreekrishna Nepal, head of International Economic Cooperation Coordination Division and Yuvraj Pandey, private secretary to the minister are also in the visiting team. According to Finance Minister's Press Coordinator Prakash Thapa, the Finance Minister will return to Nepal on Wednesday.

Although Nepal is not a member of the G-20 countries, Finance Minister Mahat will participate in the meeting as a guest member. G-20 finance ministers and central bank governor level meetings are anticipated to discuss the global economy and global health, sustainable finance and infrastructure development, international financial scenario, international tax system, financial inclusion, etc.


Similarly, cooperation in public debt management, regulation and supervision of crypto transactions, use of technology in public infrastructure will be raised in the meeting. The meeting will be jointly chaired by Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Governor of Reserve Bank of India Dr Shaktikanta Das.
