KATHMANDU, Nov 2: Five people, including a two-year-old, died in separate incidents in various districts in the last 24 hours. 


In Kathmandu, a two-year-old girl died after a truck hit her at Baphal, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-13. Police identified the toddler as Deepsikha, the daughter of 22-year-old Devi Tamang of Dhading, currently living in Baphal. The truck (NL 01 AD 7193) hit the child who fell down from her mother's lap after a scooter (Ba 56 Pa 445) knocked down Devi. Critically injured in the accident, Deepsikha died at the Manmohan Memorial Hospital on Sunday evening, police said. Police have impounded both the vehicles and initiated investigation.

In Saptari district, one of the two persons who were critically injured in a collision between a car and an autorickshaw died while being treated at Golden Hospital in Biratnagar today. The accident took place on the East-west Highway at Berawa of Barmajhiya in the district. The deceased is 70-year-old Bechanlal Majhi of Hanumannagar Kankalni Municipality-1. The accident took place on Sunday. Another injured in the same accident, Badri Mukhiya, 70, of the same place died on the way to hospital at Bhardaha. Six people were injured in the accident. Among them, three are being treated at Golden Hospital in Biratnagar and the other three are being treated at Bhardaha Hospital in Bhardaha. 


In Rupandehi district, an eight-year-old child died when a tipper truck knocked him down on the Lumbini-Bhairahawa road section near the Bishwokarma Temple at Mayadevi Rural Municipality-8. The accident took place at 9.30 am today. Police identified the child as Raghuveer Harijan. Police have arrested the tipper truck driver and impounded the vehicle.


In Doti district, a woman died of hornet sting. Police identified the deceased as 75-year-old Kati Lohar of Adarsha Rural Municipality-1. The elderly lady was stung by hornets while she was grazing her cattle in the forest. The incident happened on Sunday and she was taken to the local health facility for treatment the same day. She was returned home after treatment but died at 2 am today, according to police. Three people have died from hornet sting in as many days in the district, police said.
