Of the total four airports in the district, Kangel Danda airport has been closed for the past two years while flights at other operating three have been obstructed following rainfall.

Five to six flights operate from the Lukla airport on a daily basis, but they have come to a halt at present due to bad weather conditions, said in-charge of Tara Airlines, Lukla, Phunuru Sherpa.

As a result, passengers including foreign tourists on their way back to their respective destinations after touring Sagarmatha area have been stranded, he said.

Some of them have been complaining that they were fast running out of money to pay their accommodation and food bills, apart from expiring their visa, he added. RSS
