KATHMANDU, July 4: Water levels are likely to recede in major rivers of the country and remain under safety levels today, according to a flood alert issued by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

“Water levels from Koshi, Narayani, West Rapti, Babai, Karnali and Mahakali along with other major rivers will reduce,” the alert reads adding that rivers on the eastern side of the country, Biring, Kankai and others would slightly exceed safety levels due to rain forecasts for today.
In the next three days, all major rivers will be below safety levels. The DHM, nonetheless, has advised safety measures. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, floods and landslides have killed 22 people and injured eight. Two are missing.
