Flood and inundation damage Rs 119.3 million in Bhaktapur

BHAKTAPUR, July 16: The recent flood, landslide and inundation has damaged property worth Rs 119.35 million in Bhaktapur. 


The Bhaktapur District Administration Office shared this information at a press conference here on Sunday.

Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Bhatta said the flood, landslide and inundation triggered by the incessant rains on July 11 and 12 caused this extent of damage in the district. He said three people of the same family were killed when landslide swept away their house at Changunarayan Municipality and four people were injured due to the inundation. 


CDO Bhatta added that 111 people were rescued from the inundated areas. Similarly, flood and landslide damaged 522 houses, 15 sheds, 28 industries and factories including petrol pumps, 133 retail and wholesale shops, a bridge and a road each and two hospitals and schools each. The flood swept away 37 pigs and 825 chickens. 


The damage caused to the industries, factories and petrol pumps is around Rs 39 million 395 thousand 125 and the damage caused to wholesale and retail stores is around Rs 34 million 16 thousand. Likewise, the inundation damaged property worth Rs 300 thousand at Marigold English School, Balkot and livestock and poultry worth about one million twenty six thousand rupees were killed in the disaster. 


The flood and inundation damaged properties worth around Rs 34 million 161 thousand in Bhaktapur Municipality area, Rs 69 million 510 thousand and 250 in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality area, Rs 27 million 91thousand in Surya Binayak Municipality area and Rs 2 million 398 thousand in Changunarayan Municipality area. Two concrete and 13 mud and brick houses were damaged in Sudal of Changunarayan municipality. RSS
