According to Chaudhary, the embankment was swept away owing to a lack of quality construction. The construction work of the embankment is being carried out through Triyuga River Management Project Office, Udayapur. Project Office Chief Divisional Engineer Rewakant Yadav said that the flood in the river was triggered by eight hours of rain in the night.

Yadav added, the floodwaters came from a few meters of empty space at the place where the embankment was being built as per the demand of the locals, but not much damage was done. The 50-meter-long embankment was destroyed but the construction workers will repair it soon, he said. “While we were working, there was a plan from the ward budget to control the monsoon flood, I have instructed the contractor company to repair the damage at the earliest possible”.
