KATHMANDU, Jan 28: Minister for Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Pradeep Kumar Gyawali has congratulated the newly-appointed US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.
In a message to Blinken, Foreign Minister (FM) Gyawali expressed his confidence that the multidimensional Nepal-US relations will continue to flourish in the years ahead, according to MoFA.
Appreciating US cooperation to Nepal’s socioeconomic development, Gyawali outlined that the new US policies, including the emphasis on multilateralism, will further expand the avenues for mutual cooperation, the MoFA stated in a press statement. "In this context, he conveyed the commitment of the Government of Nepal to working closely with the United States in the areas of common interests, including climate action and global health in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic," reads the press statement.

Foreign Minister Gyawali, in his message, has also underscored the need for further enriching development partnership, economic engagements and people-to-people contacts.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Senate confirmed President Joe Biden’s nominee, veteran diplomat Antony Blinken, to serve as secretary of state.
