KATHMANDU, Oct 14: Expressing deep sorrow over the demise of Founding Chairman of Nepal Republic Media Hemraj Gyawali, Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) said on Sunday that the Nepali media industry has lost a competent, experienced, and professional media advocate.
In a condolence statement, the umbrella organization of the Nepali mediapersons, recalled significant contribution made by late Gyawali to the promotion of Nepali professional media, art, language, literature and culture.

“Nepali media sector will remember him forever for his contribution to this sector,” the FNJ said in the statement while expressing condolence to the bereaved family members.
It stated that Gyawali took the initiative to run a professional media for the first time in Nepal by publishing Kantipur Daily after the restoration of multi-party democracy in 1990. Similarly, he founded Nepal Republic Media after the people’s uprising in 2006-2007.
People from various walks of life have been expresssing condolence over the demise of Gyawali, who passed away on Saturday following a mild heart attack.
Gyawali, Nepal’s pioneer in promoting professional media died at the age of 79 while undergoing treatment at Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center where he had been taken to after complaining of chest pain.
