Final results are likely to be announced by evening today
KATHMANDU, April 10: The vote count for the selection of a new executive committee of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), an umbrella organization of the journalists across the country, is underway.
According to the FNJ, the counting of votes cast in 60 districts, various institutions and associate provinces was completed by Saturday morning.

The counting of votes from the remaining 16 districts is to be finalized, according to Ramhari Silwal, a member of the election committee. The FNJ has formed its executive committee in 76 districts except Rukum East. Silwal shared that the final results will be announced by the evening today or in the first hours tomorrow.
As of the updates released earlier today, Bipul Pokhrel, who is in the fray for the presidential post of the central executive committee, is leading the vote count with 5,331 votes. Pokhrel is in the race on behalf of a joint alliance of the Press Union, Press Organization and others.
Nirmala Sharma, the candidate representing the progressive-inclusive alliance which includes Press Chautari Nepal, Press Forum Nepal, among others, is trailing behind Pokhrel by 2,291 votes. She has garnered a total of 3,040 votes so far.
Gajenendra Budhathoki, an independent candidate for the post, has received only 388 votes while Ram Prasad Dahal, who had withdrawn his candidacy hours before the election, has got 87 votes.
The update indicates that most candidates representing the joint alliance are likely to make it to the executive committee of the FNJ.
