KATHMANDU, Oct 20: The government-owned Food Management and Trading Company has reduced the price of goat meat and he-goat meat to provide more convenience to consumers. The company has given a discount of Rs 10 per kg. The company has started selling live goats at Rs 650 per kg and he-goat at Rs 1,225 per kg from today.

The company had previously been selling live goats at Rs 670 per kg with a discount of Rs 10 per kg and he-goat at Rs 1,250 per kg. The company said that there is no significant participation of the consumers in the purchase and sale of animal feed and keeping the goat and he-goat for a long time will increase the cost, so they are going to reduce the price and sell the goats.

Tha company had bought 1,658 goats from Makwanpur, Dang and Kailali and 554 he-goats from Rasuwa. So far, only 630 goats and he-goats have been sold, the company said.

This means that 1,582 goats are yet to be sold. Goats and he-goats are sold on Phulpati (7th day of Dashain) and Ashtami (8th day of Dashain). "Goats are sold today, and on Phulpati and Ashtami.
