The days leading up to Christmas will see some really special events and markets in our capital city. Whether you are in mood for some holiday shopping or want to sample a few Christmas delights or it’s music you are actually after, these fairs have it all covered. 


The Local Mini Market christmas special


Location: Evoke Café and Bistro


Time:  December 23, Saturday, 10am to 4 pm


This event is being promoted by The Local Project Nepal. Their store is all about empowering local producers and has become popular for providing diverse selection of authentic products. With their outdoor vendor stalls, they always manage to create a cool and comfortable market space for the customers and they appear to be keen to extend their services for the upcoming holiday season as well. Just in case you are not done with your pre-Christmas shopping, you can head to The Local Project Nepal’s Local Mini Market at Evoke Café and Bistro, Jhamsikhel. 


From lifestyle products to handcrafted goods and organic food, you can scour through unique Nepali handmade gifts for your loved ones.

In the spirit of Christmas, Yala Mandala is putting out their new arrivals and offering discounts up to 25 percent. 


The urban artisan village that includes a gallery, café as well as a handicraft workshop says that they will be showcasing new creations. You can expect handicrafts from thangkas, bowls, and ceramics to jewelry, be it earrings, pendants or precious stones. They are also setting up an entire knitwear section with sweaters, shawls, gloves, winter caps and pashmina to keep you warm. And, we can’t miss the artwork either. 


The fair could be a nice precursor to Christmas. You can shop, admire the works, dine, and enjoy yourself to the fullest.


Christmas Mela


Location: Outdoor Adventure Center Nepal


Time: December 23 to 25


In case you picture a more active festive season this year, the adventure hub that is Outdoor Adventure Center Nepal, at Amrit Marg Bhawagwan Bahal, Thamel is putting together quiet the attraction for you.


Their three-day mela is set to feature everything from game stalls, art and craft stall to pump track ride competition and slack line competition. If you fancy a little game of bingo, they have got that covered too. After all the playing around, you can enjoy some sumptuous food at the food stalls and enjoy the Christmas songs they plan to put on. 


What’s more, they are opening the event to the public. The entry is free.


KJC Christmas Festival


Location: Moksh Bar, Jhamsikhel


Time: December 23, 12:00 pm onwards


Everybody’s favorite music school is bringing in the festive cheer this season. They are hosting a bunch of programs and by the looks of it they have everybody. 


With the Kids Christmas Chorale, there is something for the kids in the afternoon. Young students from KJC will apparently be performing some Christmas carols and other tunes to put everybody in the right mood. If you register, you can even participate in their Secret Santa game. All you have to do is bring your own gift worth Rs 200.


A Christmas market shall also be in full swing from noon itself. They say there will be many local products there. And then, the big one, an exclusive concert for everybody. International artists as well as KJC’s band and students will reportedly be putting up a performance.


The tickets are already available at Moksh and KJC. All proceeds are said to go towards scholarships. There is also a discount for advance booking.
