KATHMANDU, Nov 21: The Secretariat of the Foreign Employment Board has issued a call for applications for scholarships dedicated to the offspring of foreign workers.
Tikaram Dhakal, information officer and Director of the Board, stated that the Board is welcoming applications to grant scholarships to the children of labor migrants who have gone abroad with a valid labor permit. These scholarships are meant for those whose parents have either died within the contract period, are completely disabled, or facing serious illnesses during foreign employment.

According to Dhakal, as per the Schedule 1 of the Foreign Employment Scholarship Operating Procedure, 2080 BS, applications have been invited to be submitted by December 24.
The notice published by the board's secretariat specifies that children under 18 years of age, studying in community and institutional schools (from pre-primary or nursery to Grade 12), are eligible to apply.
Information Officer and Director Dhakal mentioned that the scholarships are designed for the children of workers who have received 100 percent financial assistance from the Foreign Employment Board and have gone abroad for employment after obtaining a labor permit, but have either passed away, become disabled, or fallen seriously ill.
He said, "An annual scholarship of Rs 12,000 for the basic level and Rs 16,000 for the secondary level will be provided. A lump sum scholarship will be given annually to a student only once per class."
