Foreign Minister Shrestha requests Russian counterpart to expedite repatriation of dead bodies

KATHMANDU, March 7: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha has requested Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to expedite the repatriation of dead bodies of Nepalis, provide compensation to the deceased family and facilitate to return the Nepali citizens serving in the Russian Army.

KATHMANDU, March 7: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha has requested Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to expedite the repatriation of dead bodies of Nepalis, provide compensation to the deceased family and facilitate to return the Nepali citizens serving in the Russian Army.


DPM Shrestha made such a request to the Russian minister by holding a telephone conversation with him on Thursday.

Likewise, DPM Shrestha thanked Minister Lavrov for initiating the compensation process and requested him to conclude it as soon as possible, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


In response, Minister Lavrov assured Russia's Foreign Ministry’s support in addressing the concerns of Nepal.


Similarly, the two foreign ministers discussed various aspects of Nepal-Russia relations, including issues of Nepali citizens in the Russian Army.
