KATHMANDU, June 3: Former King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah and Queen Komal Rajya Lakshmi Devi Shah appeared in a video over social media on Thursday to thank their well-wishers within and without the country for their support and prayers during the former royal couple’s battle against COVID-19.
In the video, the former king has expressed his gratitude for the support of his well-wishers from home and abroad for their fast recovery from COVID-19. Former King Gyanendra and Queen Komal Shah had tested positive for COVID-19 on April 20.

The former king also thanked the frontline workers such as health workers, security personnel, social workers, and activists working to serve the country during these desperate times from the bottom of his heart. “We are both recovering from the disease but the situation of the country and the world due to COVID-19 concerns me very much,” he said. “With the pandemic still on the rise, we must seek solutions and international help to solve and control the problem,” he added.
Furthermore, former King Gyanendra also thanked the international community for their help to Nepal to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. He also urged everyone to stay safe, alert, and healthy. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the infected patients who are undergoing treatment and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls.
