Ex-minister Jha injured in clash between police and agitating Dahal-Nepal faction cadres in Janakpur

LAHAN, Feb 4: Police and agitating cadres of the Dahal-Nepal-led faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have engaged in a clash in Janakpur.

LAHAN, Feb 4: Former Minister and Central Committee member of the Dahal-Nepal faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Ram Chandra Jha was seriously injured in a clash between police and agitating cadres of the faction in Janakpur on Thursday. 


The clash between the police and the cadres of the faction erupted at Shiva Chowk in Janakpur as police intervened the attempt of the agitators to enforce a shutdown and obstruct vehicular movement.

Jha has received a head injury in the clash. He is receiving treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Janakpur.


The agitating NCP cadres have also vandalized a few vehicles in the course of their clash with police personnel. Police have arrested a few NCP cadres involved in the vandalism.


Police had fired several rounds of tear gas shells to disperse the mob of the agitating cadres of the NCP faction. 


The Dahal-Nepal faction of the NCP organized a general strike against what it described as the 'unconstitutional' move of Prime Minister K P Oli to appoint members at various constitutional bodies. The Constitutional Council meeting that was boycotted by the main opposition party leader and speaker of the House of Representatives had made recommendations for the appointments to the vacant positions in various constitutional bodies.
