KATHMANDU, Nov 21: Police arrested 39-year-old Ram Sundar Shrestha, a resident of Namobuddha Municipality-8 in Kavrepalanchowk, along with approximately 272.37 grams of gold-like yellow metal, which was illegally smuggled through the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, on Monday night.
During the check at the said gate, he was apprehended with 54.97 grams of three spiral rings and 217.40 grams of gold-like yellow semi-solid material wrapped in a false butt made of plastic inside his underwear. He will be handed over to the Customs office in Sinamangal along with the recovered gold-like metal.

Similarly, police also arrested three people with gold-like yellow metal weighing 12 tolas worth about Rs 1.39 million on Sunday evening in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-2, Rasuwagadhi. Among those arrested are 29-year-old Suresh Tamang of Amachodingmo Rural Municipality-5 Gongang, 37-year-old Nima Tasi Tamang of the same Rural Municipality-5 Tatopani, and 23-year-old Dwang Lopsang Tamang of Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-3 Bridim.
A joint team comprising Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and Customs Office at the Rasuwagadhi checkpoint on the Nepal-China border arrested them as they entered Nepal from China with the metal in the form of three spiral rings.
The police are currently conducting necessary investigations into this matter.
