Four different postage stamps issued

KATHMANDU, Nov 3: The Postal Services Department has issued different four postage stamps simultaneously.


At a program organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications here on Thursday, Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki affixed the first cancellation mark on all the four types of the stamps.


The stamps feature the portraits of politician Bal Bahadur Rai, social reformer Dev Shamsher Junga Bahadur Rana and pictures of the diamond jubilee occasion of Nepal-Japan diplomatic relations, and Hatuwagadhi, the Capital city of ancient Majh Kirat and Bhojpur.

Meanwhile speaking at the event, Minister Karki said the ministry was ready to develop the postal service as community service centre at a time when the oldest postal service is gradually losing its charm due to the emergence of modern types of information technologies.


He also said the government would revive all public organizations that are becoming dysfunctional gradually, with government investment.


Also on the occasion, Information Secretary Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya stressed the need for expanding postal service up to village level.


Director General of the department Suresh Adhikari said the department has issued the total 163 types of postage stamps so far. RSS
