KATHMANDU, Sept 20: On this Constitution Day, President Ramchandra Paudel has granted clemency to four individuals, including three currently incarcerated in Kailali District jail, for their involvement in the August 24, 2015 incident in Tikapur.
These individuals are being released in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Offenses (Sentencing and Execution) Act 2074. Among those set to regain their freedom today are three individuals who had been serving sentences at Kailali prison, with an additional juvenile detainee held at Pokhara Correctional Home.
Resham Chaudhary released from prison
The four individuals slated for release are Bir Bahadur Chaudhary from Tikapur Municipality-4, Hari Narayan Chaudhary, and Pradeep Chaudhary from Janaki Rural Municipality-7, as confirmed by Kailali Jail Chief Padam Raj Timilsina.
He said that nine people along with three of them who are in jail are about to be released. It is important to note that Resham Lal Chaudhary, previously convicted in the case by the Supreme Court, was granted release on Republic Day, celebrated on May 29.
