Four killed, three others missing due to floods and landslides in various parts of the country

KATHMANDU, June 26: At least four people have been killed and three others missing due to floods and landslides triggered by rainfall in different parts of the country. Additionally, four individuals have been injured.

KATHMANDU, June 26: At least four people have been killed and three others missing due to floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall in different parts of the country. Additionally, four individuals have been injured.

 

Incessant rainfall since Tuesday night has caused significant damage in different parts of the country. Two children died in Kaski, one person died in Morang and another in Okhaldhunga as a result of flood and landslides. Police said two people in Morang and one person in Okhaldhunga are missing.

 

In Kaski, 13-year-old Ayushma Ranabhat of Madi Rural Municipality-5 and three-year-old Anmol Sunar of Pokhara Metropolis lost their lives. According to the District Police Office, Ayushma died when a landslide occurred at the back of her house at around 2:15 AM while she was sleeping with her grandmother. Her 70-year-old grandmother, Lalmaya Banjari, was rescued safely, but Ayushma did not survive, according to DSP Basant Kumar Sharma at the District Police Office, Kaski.

 

In Pokhara, Anmol Sunar died when a landslide hit the house of Hari Sunar at 927 Arupata. Anmol's mother, 27-year-old Ritu Sunar, was injured in the landslide and has been sent to Gandaki Medical College for further treatment, according to police. 

 

In another incident, the flood of Budhikhola on the border of Morang and Sunsari swept away four members of the same family while fishing on Tuesday afternoon. The 22-year-old Premkala Chowdhury, alias Fudni, died in the incident. DSP Gyanendra Basnet at the District Police Office, Morang, reported that two family members, 60-year-old Asra Devi Choudhary and 25-year-old Phula Choudhary, are still missing. However, 22-year-old Swastika Chaudhary, another family member, is safe.

 

In Okhaldhunga, a landslide buried houses and sheds, killing Baburam Khatri, 39, of Chishankhugadhi Rural Municipality-5, on the spot. His wife, 35-year-old Devkumari Khatri, also died in the incident. Purinda Khatri and his 18-year-old wife, Menuka Khatri, were injured and are being treated at a local medical center.
