BIRENDRANAGAR, Feb 8: A joint team of police from the Karnali Province Police Bureau, the Narcotics Control Bureau Surkhet and the District Police Office Surkhet arrested four people with drugs hidden under the ground in Birendranagar. The police team arrested the people with 15 grams and 9 milligrams of brown sugar buried under the ground in a room near Pathibhara temple.
Twenty-year-old Pritam Shahi of Birendranagar Municipality-3, 19-year-old Abhishek Basnet, 20-year-old Rohan Dhaulakoti and 26-year-old Dipesh Thapa Magar were taken into custody by the police. Madhav Prasad Shrestha, spokesperson of Karnali Province Police Office, Surkhet, said that the police seized the narcotics from the ground near Pritam Shahi's room. The four people were held for posing the brown sugar along with Rs 21,940. They have been detained at the District Police Office Surkhet for further investigation. In recent days, the police have been running a special campaign to reduce accidents and control narcotics in Karnali province.
Two arrested in possession of illegal drugs in Jhapa
From July 17, 2022 to February 4, 2023, a total of 108 people have been arrested across Karnali province in illegal drugs cases. According to the Karnali Police Office, 194 grams and 64 milligrams of brown sugar, 46 grams of marijuana, 87 milligrams of hashish, 175 tablets of nitrazepam and around Rs 0.5 million were seized from them.
