Free distribution of herbal medicine attracts large number of patients

KATHMANDU, May 12: Visitors in large number stood in a queue to receive herbal medicines distributed on the premises of Bauddhanath Stupa on Saturday.


Jindao Health Care Nepal in coordination with Shechen Monastery provided free medical examination and distributed Chinese “mugwort” foot-soaking herbs, a kind of aromatic medicine, free of cost to around a thousand visitors.

Mostly elderly visitors suffering from various long-term aliments are expected to benefit from the free medicine. Nima Sherpa, 52, who managed to receive a bag of medicine said he wants to try using herbal medicine. “Since the medicine is made up of herbal ingredients, I am hopeful to have some improvement in my health condition,” said Sherpa.


Another visitor Phurpa Dolma, 55, said that she has been suffering from a chronic back ache since a few years and was curious about the new medicine she heard of while she was passing by. 

“I have tried many medicines before but in vain. If this medicine cures back aches and other ailments as claimed by the distributors, I think I should get a packet and try it,” said Dolma.


Alice Cheng Hong, manager of Jingdao Health Care Nepal, said the health institute decided to distribute the medicines free of cost. “During my frequent visit to Nepal, I came to realize that many elderly people here are suffering from back and knee aches.


Therefore, in order to make a good usage of these herbal medicines, I decide to distribute them free of cost,” said Alice. “These medicines are proven to cure nerve-related ailments and aches in China so it could help people get over of their problems here too,” added Hong.
