BIRATNAGAR, Nov 23: Supply of petroleum products from the Biratnagar-based regional depot of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has come to a complete halt after the tanker drivers resorted to a strike with ‘irrelevant’ demands.
The strike has resulted in the shortage of fuel in the eastern region. The drivers stopped the supply of petroleum products from Monday putting forth a 15-point technical demand.
They have demanded to allow operation of tankers uniformly while bringing and supplying petroleum products, accepting earlier standards on taking temperature of fuel until an international standard is adopted among others.
“These are purely technical demands and we can’t do anything about that from here,” NOC Regional Chief Dinesh Kumar Yadav told Republica Online, “I have written to the NOC Central Office asking to address their demands.”
He added that the demands of the tanker drivers are also associated with the petroleum dealers and hence NOC is working to resolve the issue in an agreement among all the sides.
