PARBAT, March 13: The Ministry of Social Development of Gandaki State will provide sanitary pads to girls attending Secondary Education Examination (SEE) scheduled to take place from March 24. Of the total 2,874 community school students taking the test from Parbat district, 1,437 are girls.
The ministry's move comes amid reports that the female students have been facing problems during their period while attending examinations, said officer at the ministry Guma Wagle. The ministry has handed a cheque for Rs 13,000 to the District Education Development and Coordination Unit (DEDCU), Parbat to purchase sanitary pads for the students. Receiving the cheque, Chief of the DEDCU Manohar B. Poudel lauded the ministry's move.

Likewise, the ministry has released approximately Rs 500,000 to the nine districts of the State except Manang and Mustang to purchase sanitary pads for the girls taking the examination. The ministry could not provide budget to Manang and Mustang for this purpose as the districts have a small number of girls attending the examinations, said Devi Sharma, woman development officer at the ministry.
