KATHMANDU, Sept 5: The devotees are paying homage at the shrines of Hindu God Ganesha on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi today across the country.

Ganesha, the son of Shiva and Parwati, is worshipped at the beginning of any religious ritual or undertakings.

The followers of Hinduism worship Ganesha praying and wishing for a life without obstructions and hurdles, and for peace and happiness, according to Ganesh Purana.

Devotees particularly throng the temples at Ashok Binayak and Chandra Binayak in Kathmandu, Suryabinayak and Kamal Binayak in Bhaktapur.

The Newar community celebrates the day as Chatha Parva. RSS
