KATHMANDU, March 6: A parliamentarian delegation from the German House of Representatives which is on a five-day official visit to Nepal discussed transitional justice and human rights situation in Nepal with the prime minister and the president.
The delegation met with President Bidya Bhandari, Prime Minister KP Oli, Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Gyawali, and Minister for Finance Yuba Raj Khatiwada during its five-day visit from March 1 to March 5.
UN concerned over Nepal’s TJ process
They discussed a wide range of topics, including the current federal and economic transformation of Nepal, Nepal’s peace process and human rights, women empowerment and the necessity to increase access to high quality education for all as well as German-Nepali development cooperation and the upcoming investment summit.
“It is important that the victims’ perspective is taken into account during the transitional justice,” Head of the German delegation, German parliamentarian Tobias Pflüger said, “The victims need to have the feeling that the peace process has included their perspective.”
