Having hit the headlines by passing School Level Certificate (SLC) examinations at the age of 69, Giri is again in the spotlight by completing plus two this year.

A permanent resident of Pabai-6 in Solukhunbu, Giri enrolled at Birendra Jyoti Higher Secondary School at Sotang as eighth grader in 2063 B.S. and he went on to pass the SLC from the same school on 2066 B.S.
"I started school after acknowledging the importance of education. Thought it was difficult for me to adjust as a school student in the initial days, it became easier gradually for me later," he shared.
He said he financed his study through elderly allowance given by the government. Inspired by his impression that age does not bar one from studying, many elderly men and women and daughter-in-laws in and surrounding villages have started following suit.
About his future plan, Giri said he is preparing to pursue Bachelor's level at Sotant Multiple Campus. RSS
