Glimpses of Pokhara Street Festival,Chitwan’s Hatti Mahottsav

Chitwan/Pokhara Jan 1: Chitwan and Pokhara are two most visited places in Nepal. A total of 489,451 international tourists visited Nepal in 2016 for holiday, which is about 65 percent of the total number of tourists who visited the country in the year.

Chitwan/Pokhara Jan 1: Chitwan and Pokhara are two most visited places in Nepal. A total of 489,451 international tourists visited Nepal in 2016 for holiday, which is about 65 percent of the total number of tourists who visited the country in the year. 


While Pokhara leads the charts in the list of holiday destinations for tourists, Chitwan is famous mainly for the diverse wildlife and Chitwan National Park that’s been listed in the UNSESCO World Heritage Site. In the year 2072/73 BS, as many as 87,391 foreigners visited the national park. Chitwan is also famous for one-horned rhinos and a rather unique game called elephant polo, a game that’s played only in Nepal and particularly Chitwan.

Moreover, the festivals held in these places help in giving a new identity to the areas and in attracting an increased number of visitors. This year too, the five-day Hatti Mahottsav in Chitwan pulled tourists in hoards from December 25, 2017 to December 30, 2017. Similarly, the 19th edition of Pokhara Street Festival that began on December 28, 2018 ends on January 1 and covers three kilometers’ area on the streets of lake city. The fest is organized by Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal (REBAN). Here are some glimpses of these festivals.
