Gold smuggling will be investigated to its root: Home Minister Shrestha

KATHMANDU, July 21: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha has expressed his commitment to complete the investigation into gold smuggling.

KATHMANDU, July 21: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha has expressed his commitment to complete the investigation into gold smuggling.  


Responding to media persons after inspecting the immigration and customs offices of the Tribhuvan International Airport on Friday, Home Minister Shrestha said that the investigation into gold smuggling will be carried out to the root and the truth will be brought out.

Stating that he had a conversation with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on this issue, he said, “I have also given strict instructions to the concerned authorities that the process of action should be taken to expose its nexus and route. The Prime Minister is also emphasizing this matter.”


After 100 kg of gold passed the customs check, a team including the home minister inspected the immigration and customs offices at the Tribhuvan International Airport on Friday morning.  


The Home Minister was accompanied by Director General of Department of Customs Shobha Kant Paudel, Director General of Department of Revenue Investigation Nawa Raj Dhungana, Director General of Department of Immigration Jhalak Ram Adhikari, Inspector General of Police Basanta Kunwar and others.
